Tomatoes and Potatoes From Same Plant Called TomTato
Grafting is the process of taking tissue from one plant and grafting it onto another. It has been practiced effectively in many plant varieties. But grafting of tomato and potato is really very uncommon because the tomato stem and the potato stem have to be of the same thickness for the graft and it is a very highly skilled operation. British horticultural firm Thompson and Morgan took ten years of research work to produce “TomTato” a graft between tomato and potato. The researchers claim that tomatoes grown on this plant are better tasting than the regular garden variety. The best part is that it is one plant with no potato foliage.
