Custom Felt Panel by David Hamlin and Sarah Denae

A unique design collaboration between product designer David Hamlin at Submaterial and interior designer Sarah Denae at Sparc Designs in Portland, OR has resulted in a new, modular felt panel for residential and commercial environments. Working from a 2-D pattern created with Sarah’s Portland client in mind, Submaterial developed the idea into a three-dimensional, modular system of panels that could be easily assembled at the clients’ home with a minimum of tools. Three panels each measuring 34” W x 55” H were assembled to create the finished 102” wide panel, and then installed easily using integrated cleats on the back of each module. This panel design is constructed of the finest sustainable 100% wool felt- precisely layered and cut – then bonded to an FSC-certified plywood subpanel. While designed primarily as a decorative interior accessory, this panel also has excellent acoustic properties. Colors and finished size can all be customized to suit any space.
