NASA’s Higher Earth Orbit Solar Power Satellite

An erstwhile NASA engineer,John Mankins,now with Artemis Innovation Management Solutions,during the recent NASA innovation conference presented the concept of Solar Power Satellite via Arbitrarily Large PHased Array (SPS-ALPHA).This will harvest solar energy from the high Earth orbit. It would have a modular array of movable thin-film mirrors,taken to space by current cargo ships and assembled piece by piece. These curved mirrors would redirect sunlight toward an internal collection of photovoltaic panels and the solar energy would be converted into microwaves
