Flon neighbourhood, Lausanne, Switzerland As in a medieval town square, the Swiss designers Oloom and the British Samuel Wilkinson use a tree as a meeting place. The structure, part of a program to regenerate the Flon neighborhood, is made of a steel framework supporting a canopy made from larch wood to provide shade. The steel seating is shaped so as to look like roots. These extend across and beyond the square and, by night, light the pavement thanks to LEDs
